Honoring a legislator who has made a lasting contribution to the citizens of the Suwannee River region through their efforts and dedication in the performance of their duties with the Florida Legislature.

"The Logging Industry's Impact on Rural Communities"
Speaker: Glenn Osteen
Glenn Osteen is a third generation forester. Glenn has been managing forest land for 40 years and is currently managing 100,000 acres in Dixie, Gilchrist, Lafayette and Madison Counties. Glenn started his career in 1979 with Hudson Pulp & Paper in Dixie County where he was in the logging operations side of the business. In 1987, Glenn was with Georgia Pacific where he worked in inventory and harvest projections. In 1998, Glenn moved into the area manager position where he was responsible for the Florida operations of land management. One of the highlights of Glenn's career was working with the Suwannee River Water Management District to create a working forest conservation easement on 32,000 acres of the historic California Lake watershed above the National Refuge and the Big Bend Wildlife Management Area.
